A Man’s Home is his…Canvas

Photography is everywhere, and everyone can be a photographer. What was once an expensive hobby for the amateur is now at the fingertips for any budding ‘snap-artist’ carrying their camera around with them on holiday, or hurriedly capturing those fortunate photogenic flashes of childhood. Even mobile phones have cameras of substantial quality as a norm now. Add all this to the trend in interior design, spurred on by plentiful TV D.I.Y programmes, it now seems that art really is something that we can all do, and the home is often the canvas onto which we paint.

It is now possible to reel out hundreds of digital pictures at no extra cost at all, choose the one that has the “wow” factor, and then have it turned into a canvas print within just a few days. The more confident digital photographer can choose to enhance their image with their own software before deciding to have it printed, but it is possible to use your photo as it appeared the moment it was captured. Given the graphic capabilities of most modern digital cameras and scanners, the print quality can be maintained and maximised in the process.

People like to put their own stamp on their homes, and whereas there are precious few artists capable of wielding a brush with much artistic flair, the art of ‘pointing and shooting’ is within easy grasp of just about anyone. Having your own photograph professionally produced does carry the flair and individuality we enjoy at the fraction of the price of a piece of “art”. So if a man’s home is his castle, then with a camera as the new brush, the castle really can be decorated by the artist in residence!
